ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra presents a unique concert with music from the world cinema: musical themes from legendary old and new films come to life through the iconic music of Enio Moricone, Henry Mancini, Nino Rota, Nikola Piovani and other great composers.

Giorgos Aravidis was born in Athens. He studied Piano and Advanced Theory (Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue) at the Hellenic Conservatory of Athens and obtained his Piano Soloist and Theory Diplomas with the highest distinction. He continued his studies at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Musique de Paris, in France, where he studied Orchestra Conducting with Professor-Conductor Dominique Ruits. He graduated with first distinction. After completing his studies, he was accepted as a student at several Orchestra Conducting Masterclasses: Richard Schumacher (Switzerland), Yuri Simonov (Hungary), and Choir Conducting with Peter Erdei (Hungary). He is artistic director of the Future Academy of Arts in Cyprus. From 2020 he is artistic director and conductor of the ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra.

ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra was established in 1954 primarily as an orchestra of light music of the Greek Radio and Television Corporation, by Kostas Karidis (pseudonym of Giannis Constantinidis) and Akis Smirneos. The turning point of the orchestra was the tour with Mikis Theodorakis in charge, in many of the well known theaters of the United States of America presenting his great composition Axion Esti and many other of his compositions. The orchestra’s interests include world music, particularly that of the twentieth century (cinema, theater).
